British Rail MEA/MFA Open Box English, Welsh & Scottish Railway Ex-Railfreight Olive & Yellow 391075
The British Rail MEA and MFA wagons were innovative conversions of redundant HEA coal hoppers, designed to address the need for general-purpose open mineral wagons. Introduced in 1990, the MEA wagons featured new steel box bodies fitted onto the existing HEA chassis. A total of 641 MEA wagons were produced, with 135 later modified into MFA wagons for infrastructure use.
